Right to Repair Update June 2019

Right_to_Repair_June2019

“While the right to repair is part of the Ontario government’s proposed draft regulations on the recycling of electronics, lighting and batteries, the draft suggests that it would be entirely up to the companies to decide if they want to provide information and tools, not a right.

The draft is open for public comment until June 23, 2019.

So if you are opposed to a voluntary approach and leaving it up to companies to decide, make this clear to the government when having your say.”

“With manufacturers making it increasingly difficult to repair products in recent years, the Right to Repair initiative is pushing for people to have the resources they need to repair their own devices at a reasonable price.

If you or anyone you know is interested or curious to help move the Right to Repair initiative forward, please get in touch with Repair Café Toronto at info@repaircafetoronto.ca.

You can also help by signing the right to repair federal petition”
